Design news: London olympics stamps
Posted by pixellogo on January 24, 2012 in Design & Style, Industry News, Logo & Brand reviewIf you can’t still adjust to the idea that it is already 2012, here’s a small reminder that the olympics are being held in London this year. Even though the logo has been questioned by the design community (and even stirring diplomatic relations), the Royal Mail is promoting the event by releasing a set of official stamps. In this case, the logos of the Olympics and Paralympics Games are featured in the front of a definitive stamp, with the profile of the Queen in the corner. This is one of the many sets that the Royal Mail is releasing to commemorate the event, and it is expected that other versions will surface along the days remaining to the event, such as a special gold medal stamp.
Paul Smith, renowned british designer, released also another set of stamps for sale. This set though commemorates different sport disciplines, such as cycling, sailing, and tennis for example. They are definitely a beautiful and thoughtful way to promote the olympics.
